Subject: EXCITING Swim-a-Thon News
Hello Stingray Families,
We have some exciting news! A DST family has stepped up to match Swim-a-Thon donations up to $15,000. That means for every dollar your child raised it is double that amount for the club. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase new starting blocks- something we desperately need!
A huge thank you to Empowered Startups Ltd for this incredibly generous opportunity.
Let’s all work together to achieve this goal!
Your DST BOD

01may2025 ORIGINAL POST:
In partnership with Swimming / Natation Canada, the Stingrays are excited to be hosting our 2nd Annual Swim-A-thon. This is a great opportunity for our Swimmers in testing their skills while raising funds for their Team.
Again this year, we are aiming to raise $7000 to contribute to the costs of updating our Electronics & Timing Systems (touchpads, timing console, cable harnesses, pushbuttons, etc) = $32k+. Our competition timing equipment was originally purchased in 2007 with the product lifespan of 15yrs. While we’ve taken great care of our equipment, we do anticipate needing replacements sooner than later.
We will reach our goal of $7000 if each member raises $85. Last season, our membership well exceeded our Team’s goal by more than 50% and raised $10 779 - our Team’s top 3 fundraisers (S Kinney, R Dunaway, A Girodo) raised over $4000 themselves!
How does it work?
Our fundraising window is set: May 1 – May 31, 2025.
Swim – A – Thon is online through a platform hosted by Swimming / Natation Canada; our National Sport Organization. Every member or family sets up their own account at https://donate.swimming.ca/ - it takes just 2 minutes! Once your page is set up, share your link with family and friends, then get ready to swim.
Hint: short videos are received positively!
Who participates?
All members of the Duncan Swim Team. From our Non Competitive programs: Active Start, FUNdamentals, & SwimActive to the Competitive groups: A/B/C/D, and our Masters program.
In consideration of the size of our Team, we are needing to separate our Swim – A – Thon into 3 days: May 28 - May 31, 2025.
